Bridgeport Art Center Wedding: Lauren + Jeff

black wedding photographer in Chicago

I fell in love. Documenting Lauren & Jeff’s first day as husband and wife was way more magical then I could have ever imagined. From the tears Jeff shed when he saw Lauren for the first time to the electrifying dance Lauren and father surprised all of the guest with during their Father/Daughter Dance—the day was filled with so.much.love.

After getting ready with her best girlfriends, Lauren met Jeff at Aster Hall @ 900 North Michigan for the sweetest first look. In the car ride over, all Lauren kept saying was “I just need to see Jeff”. And when she did, all the anxiety she felt just melted away. She was at peace. He truly is her “calm”. Their first look was so sweet, even I needed a tissue to regroup.

Once portraits commenced, we headed over to the Bridgeport Art Center where Lauren shared another tearful first look with her father before the ceremony. Together they walked down the aisle and he gave her away to thee most amazing and deserving young man, Jeff. The ceremony was full of joy and laugher and even included a musical selection by a small choir. Everyone in the room rejoiced as they vowed themselves to one another and jumped the broom!

The celebration continued into the night where there was a delicious meal, drinks galore, crazy wild dancing and late night burgers (yum!). It was a celebration that truly spoke to who Lauren and Jeff are as individuals and as a dynamic couple. I am so honored to have been able to share in their special day. Lauren & Jeff, thank you for entrusting me with the opportunity to capture all these wonderful memories. I wish you both a lifetime of love, happiness and beautiful babies! xoxo

Many thanks to the amazing team who brought this celebration to life...

Paris312 Birthday Party: Siena Rose Turns ONE!

Sweet Siena Rose turned 1 this month and I couldn’t be feel more honored to have photographed her 1st birthday celebration which was held at Paris312 in Chicago. I am always in awe at just how special this little munchkin is to her sweet family. As the first grandchild on both sides of her family, she is showered with love and affection from all—even family-friends can’t help but dote on little miss Siena, she is a precious girl indeed. I am so honored to have had the opportunity to photograph these major milestones in her first year and I am looking forward to all the wonderful memories and milestones ahead <3

Loft Lucia Chicago Wedding: Coniah + Gboyega

Fearless, brave and determined are the words that I would use to describe Coniah & Gboyega. Though you won’t be able to tell it through the warm images below, it was about 30 degrees in Chicago on Coniah & Gboyega’s November wedding day. To call it a “cool & brisk fall day” is an understatement—we were freezing! But everyone was determined to smile, pose coat-less and make the most of the day. Somehow, the high energy and comradery amongst the bridal party brought warmth to the day and helped us all survive the blistering cold! And boy am I glad it did, because we were able to capture some gorgeous shots with the iconic Chicago skyline despite the weather.

Coniah & Gboyega are truly a delight to know! Not only are they so very compatible with one another, but they are a true power couple. They both are driven, hardworking and dedicated, and all of their family and friends regard them in such high esteem & respect. It was beautiful to witness their closest friends and family gathered together to celebrate their union—many of which traveled far distances to do so.

Congratulations Coniah & Gboyega!! I wish you all a lifetime of happiness and love ❤️

Glen Ellyn Private Wedding Ceremony: Aisha + Kendall

If the love is so good, why wait?! Aisha & Kendall are planning their wedding day for the springtime. But while planning, they asked themselves one day, “why wait?” So they decided to wed this Fall in an intimate ceremony surrounded by their immediate family. Everything about this ceremony was special, from the location—Aisha’s family church, to the attendees—loving Grandparents all the way down to the sweetest nieces and nephews ever. I am so incredibly honored to have shared in this special moment with these two. Can’t wait for the big celebration on April 27, 2019!

Chicago Loop Engagement Session: Coniah + Gboyega

Coniah and Gboyega met in 2012 at a mutual friend’s housewarming party in Washington D.C. At the time Kobe Bryant was going though a divorce and upon meeting each other, Coniah and Gboyega got into a debate about prenuptial agreements. Let them tell it, they haven’t ceased to debate with each other about any and everything til this very day. Lol. They both love to debate, but when it came to falling in love with one another, there was no debating there. Coniah recalls, “I remember thinking that he was so stubborn, just like me, but if I could get him to bend for me, then we would probably have a good time”. These two lovebirds have been inseparable ever since. Coniah & Gboyega are set to wed this November 11th! I cannot wait to celebrate with them both!

Chicago Theatre Engagement Session: Patrice + Qiante

Patrice and Qiante are simply adorable together and their affection for one another is so warm and heartfelt. Their love has carried them for nearly 10 years, many miles away and back home again. Through thick and thin, they have withstood the test of time and have built a foundation to get through the years ahead. I cannot wait to document their winter wedding this December at Stan Mansion here in Chicago! Cheers!

Chicago Botanic Garden Sip & See: Siena Rose

This elegant Sip & See was a joyous celebration for the newest member of the Segretto and Nisson family, Siena Rose. Not only is she the first child of newly weds, Michael & Nicole Segretto, but she is the first grandchild on both sides of her family, which makes this an extra special occasion indeed. All of her family members and family friends where thrilled to meet Siena and showered both, her and her parents, with love.

The delightful Sunday brunch, hosted at the Chicago Botanic Garden, was styled and planned by Akeshi Akinseye of Kesh Events. The decor included floral arrangements by Kesh Designs, balloon arches by Paris 312, a custom mimosa cart by Northern Decor and delicious sweet treats by Vanille Chicago

Pazzo's 311 Chicago Wedding: Sheena + Nick

Smooth, suave, elegant, classy, poised these are all the words that describe Sheena & Nick. From the moment I entered the bridal suite at the JW Marriott Chicago the morning of their wedding and saw Sheena’s glamours details, I knew I was in for a photographers dream. I loved everything about their special day, from Sheena’s beautiful mermaid gown to the ceremony decor to the song the couple chose for their first dance. It was a day full of laughter and love and I truly did enjoy documenting this couple's wedding celebration at Pazzo’s 311

Bolingbrook Golf Club Wedding: Eman + Vincent

What a fun celebration Eman & Vincent’s wedding day was. Not only did I get to work with one of my favorite creative teams Pamela Hewlett Events, Danielle Rochon Makeup and Penthouse Sweets for this Bolingbrook Golf Club wedding, but I got to work with this very fun, cool, and affectionate couple. Eman & Vincent are every wedding photographers dream! They have crazy chemistry with each other, they trust their wedding vendors and give them creative freedom to do what they do best, and they are just all around fun loving people!! They literally flowed through their wedding day so naturally and carefree— just living in the moment! Which made things super easy for me, because I never had to force anything. I just came along for the ride and captured all the genuine emotions that unfolded throughout the day. The laughter, the awe, the dancing, the excitement. Nothing contrived or forced here. All genuine. All natural. All love.

Destination Wedding in Punta Cana: Sandra + Aaron

Sandra & Aaron's destination wedding weekend began with a welcome dinner for their close friends and family upon their arrival to The Level at Melia Caribe Tropical Resort in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. They spent the evening reminiscing, laughing and toasting over tropical drinks and cuisine. Family members shared fun memories and well wishes with the couple before their big day.

Their wedding was an intimate occasion with 25 guest. The couple started the day sipping bubbly as they dressed and prepared to walk down the aisle. After a joy-filled ceremony, they headed into their reception where they partied the night away!

Many thanks to the amazing team at The Level at Melia Caribe Tropical Resort who brought this celebration to life, and to my dear friend Genevieve Burruss who perfectly documented Sandra & Aaron's special day.

Noah's of Naperville Wedding: Courtney + John

Courtney & John's love story dates all the way back to their teenage years and their wedding was a testament to their history and unyielding love for one another. Their wedding celebration was a merger of two families which have already been so closely connected over the past decade. Everyone was so thrilled to finally see these two tie the knot, even the brides parents presented them with "True Love 2017" jerseys to commemorate the occasion. It was a joyous celebration indeed!

Maggiano's Chicago Wedding: RaSheila + Ryan

RaSheila & Ryan's wedding day began at Hyatt Place River North in a room filled with laughter & love. As the bride prepped for her big day, we all laughed as RaSheila cheesed for the camera every time I asked her to think about how gorgeous she looked! Lol. The couple married at RaSheila's home church Greater Salem Church on Chicago's Southside and from there we headed to the Civic Opera House for bridal portraits. The adventurous bridal party was up for the task of standing in the middle of the Washington Street bridge for bridal party photos in-between the changing traffic lights. What can I say?! I love a good city bridge shot.

After portraits we headed on over to the wedding reception at Maggiano's on Grand & Clark. The ballroom was decked out with library books, soft pink floral arrangements and R's & M's- the couples favorite letters! RaSheila & Ryan danced the night away surrounded by their closest family and fiends. What a wonderful celebration it was!

River North Engagment Session: Eman + Vincent

Eman & Vincent met through mutual friends while on their way to Statesville Haunted House several years ago. While hanging out together, Vincent thought she was already taken, while Eman was secretly plotting on how she could see him again. Luckily, as fate would have it, Eman was "single & ready to mingle" ;-) They have been laughing, loving and growing together ever since.

I am so honored to have been asked to document their journey to the altar and I cannot wait for their fall wedding at the Bolingbrook Golf Club in Bolingbrook, IL.

Navy Pier Engagement Session: Courtney + John

Courtney & John met on MySpace in the Spring of 2006. They hit if off from the very beginning. John knew Courtney was the one very early on, in fact, John actually proposed to her back when they were 18 years old! But of course they had to wait to graduate, get jobs and become stable adults before they could marry.

Over the past ten years, they’ve grown from being teenagers traveling by bus between Oak Lawn & Wicker Park just to be together, to now being two established successful adults building a future together. I am so honored to have been asked to document their journey to the altar and I cannot wait for their summer wedding at Noah’s in Naperville, IL.

Naperville Engagement Session: Sheena + Nicholas

"Southside girl meets Suburban boy". It’s the story of my life. For those who don’t know my personal story, I was born and raised on the Southside of Chicago and my husband, Lance, was born and raised in Wheaton, IL. We met in college and the rest was history. Sheena & Nicholas share a very similar story to mine. Turns out, Sheena even went to the same exact high school as me AND Nicholas grew up in the same suburban area as Lance!

The similarities that Sheena & Nicholas share with Lance and I are striking, and those similarities only make me love them more! Most notable is their great sense of humor and the solid friendship that they have. After being together for over 10 year, their chemistry & connection is strong. They enjoy each others company and they have SO many inside jokes that only the two of them understand. It was such a delight to spend the day with these two laughing and photographing! I can’t wait for their BIG DAY this November at the gorgeous Pazzo’s 311 here in Chicago.

Talley's Kitchen + Bar: Sarah's 40th Birthday

I absolutely adore Jeff & Sarah Martinath and their family. Together they have welcomed me into their home and entrusted me with the opportunity of capturing some of their most precious memories over the last year. The genuine love, affection and camaraderie that Sarah & Jeff share is infectious-- it is a relationship that I emulate in my own marriage. So naturally, I was thrilled when Jeff reached out to invite me to Sarah's 40th birthday celebration! Jeff did an outstanding job pulling off this surprise for Sarah, she was blown away!!

It was such a fun gathering complete with endless libations and lite bites provided by, Sarah's favorite restaurant, Talley's Kitchen + Bar in Clarendon Hills.  I'd be remiss if I didn't send major kudos to Krista Talley and her team. They were on top of everything!! They kept the food & drinks coming and provided exceptional service to Sarah's guest. From the owner Krista, to the bar tender, to the servers, everyone of the staff members went out of their way to make sure that everyone was well taken care of, creating a fabulous event for a fabulous lady.

Happy Birthday Sarah!!! May the next 40 years be as fabulous as the first!! xoxo
